ANZAC day

G'day!

Tänään on ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) -päivä, jolloin kunnioitetaan ja muistetaan kaikkia australialaisia ja uusiseelantilaisia sotilaita, jotka ovat palvelleet ja kuolleet sodissa. Tämä päivä, eli 25. huhtikuuta on Gallipolin taisteluiden vuosipäivä ensimmäisessä maailmansodassa, eli päivä jolloin maiden joukot ensimmäistä kertaa koskaan sotivat. Päivä on yksi tärkeimmistä aussien kansallisista juhlapäivistä, ja täten myös pyhäpäivä, eli kaikilla vapaa töistä ja koulusta.

Eli jälleen yksi pitkä viikonloppu mulle, jeee! Tää on siis mulle jo neljäs tämmönen putkeen. Ja kaks seuraavaa viikonloppuakin tulee olemaan mulle vähän tavallista pidempiä, sillä mulla lähtee molempina perjantaina jo heti aamusta lennot. Ens viikonloppuna suuntaan tosiaan sinne Melbourneen, oojee. Varasin siellä kiertoajelun Great Ocean Roadille, jossa näen myös 12 apostolia (=periaatteessa 12 kiveä meressä, haha), eli aion ton päivän viettää täysin turistina kamera kaulassa! Perjantain aion viettää kaupunkia jalan tai pyörällä tutkien. En malttais lainkaan odottaa! Sitten sitä seuraavana viikonloppuna suuntaan vihdoin sinne Suurelle Valliriutalle! Sinne oon ostanut vasta lennot, ja nyt pitäis päättää haluanko asustella siellä hotellissa, josta teen vaan päiväretkiä riutalle, vai bookkaanko risteilyn, jossa nukutaan laivalla joka sitten kruisailee ympäri riuttaa pysähtyen mielenkiintoisiin paikkoihin, joihin pääsee snorklaamaan ym. Päätimpä mitä tahansa, toivottavasti sää ois tolle ajankohdalle kaunis ja aurinkoinen, koska muuten snorklaus (ja tiukka auringonotto, jota oon kovasti suunnitellut tekeväni) ei oo ihan yhtä kivaa. Tai ainakin snorklauksesta voi mennä vähän pohja jos myrskyää tai on kauhean isot aallot...

Today is ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) day. It commemorates all the diggers (Australian and Kiwi soldiers) who served and died in wars. The date 25th of April is the anniversary of Gallipoli fight in World War I. The day is one of the most important national holidays in here and that's way it's also a public holiday.

So another long weekend for me, yaaay! This is the fourth in a row now. And the two next weekends I'll have both fridays off due to my flights that leave in the mornings. Next weekend I'll head to Melbourne. I've booked a tour to Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles for Saturday. Friday I'll spend exploring the city by bike or foot. Can't wait! And then the next weekend I'll go to Whitsundays to see the Great Barrier Reef!! To there I only have the flights, I still got to decide whether I want a hotel and just some day trips to the Reef, or a sailing trip for the whole weekend where you'd be sleeping on the boat that sails to some of the nicest places around the Reef. I hope the weather will be nice for those few days I'll be spending there! Otherwise, the snorkeling (and sun baking I'm planning to do) won't be as enjoyable as it could be...

Sitten seuraavana päivänä siitä kun palailen Whitsundaysilta mun paras kaveri saapuukin jo tänne! Laskin just, että mulla on enää 12 duunipäivää jäljellä!? Mihin tää aika on oikeen kadonnut ja voisko joku pysäyttää kellot nyt? Tai siis oon tottakai onnellinen siitä että saan pian Seenan tänne mun halattavaks, mutta samaan aikaan oon tosi surullinen siitä että mun lähtö lähestyy samanaikasesti... Ja oon mielettömän ilonen siitä, että pääsen pian (tai siis sillon kesäkuun alussa) näkemään kaikkia mun kavereita jotka siellä Suomessa venailee, mutta samalla oon ihan raunioina siitä että joudun jättämään tän upeen maan ihan pian taakseni. En oo vielä yhtään valmis lähtemään. Vähän siis sekalaiset fiilikset nyt jyllää...

Niin, nyt alko siis mun vika viikonloppu Brisbanessa. Tehdään luultavasti tänään ja tänä viikonloppuna jotain perheenä sen kunniaksi. Yritän myös järjestää aikaa kavereiden näkemiselle ja opiskelulle. Ja ruskettumiselle jos sää pysyy näin upeena! Itseasiassa nyt kun noin sanoin, niin taidampas samantien vaihtaa biksut päälle ja suunnata ulos brunaa metsästämään, koska salikin aukeaa pyhäpäivän vuoksi vasta yhdeltä ;) tuun taas tänne höpöttelemään viikonlopun jälkeen! xx

I'll repeat this moment from last week – studying this time though!

After my trip to Whitsundays it's literally the next day when my BFF arrives here in Australia! I just counted that I have 12 working days left!? Seriously, where does the time go? Could someone stop it? I mean, I'm really happy having Seena soon in here so that I can hug her, but at the same time I'm feeling really really sad over the fact that the time for her to come here is getting closer and closer, because it means my time to leave does too... And I do feel happy about going back to Finland (in the beginning of June) and that way being able to see all my mates back in there, but also devastated because I don't feel ready to leave this incredible country. Sorta mixed feelings I have, hey...?

Well, this is going to be my last weekend here in Brisbane. We'll probably do something as a family today and this weekend, and also I'll try to have some time to spend with friends and to study. And for tanning if the weather stays this beautiful! Having said this, I think I'll change into my bikini now and go outside to catch some rays, since the gym doesn't open till 1pm ;) Bye for now! xx
